In kindergarten, children begin thinking about measurement concepts through comparing only two objects whose contrasting characteristic can be easily visualized. In grade one, we want the children to take this concept one step further by adding in more objects to order these lengths. They will be using comparison words such as long, longer, longest to gain comparison skills with middle-sized objects.
